The Porsche 911 (997) or Type 997, appeared in dealerships in 2004, is the sixth generation of Porsche 911 sports prestige developed by the German manufacturer Porsche. It is also the 911 which has the highest success since the third quarter of 2007, 100 000 copies have been sold. A record for Porsche, which is explained also by the many variations of the 997.
The cut Carrera and Carrera S appeared in July 2004, followed a few months later by their convertible versions. In late 2008, Porsche realized substantial changes over the range 997, including aesthetic touches, but mainly mechanical: the increase in engine displacement on all versions, or, on some versions, the adoption of direct injection of gasoline or the introduction of the new dual-clutch transmission KDP are the major examples. Accordingly, the Porsche 911 (997) are faster and consume less fuel from 2009 models.
